People with cool avatars unintentional collab
Twitter is 100% tomfoolery nowadays, but it had its moments.
As you might have noticed, I’ve always appreciated a good illustrated avatar, and when I come across people with cool ones I add them to my “People With Cool Avatars” list.
I’ve been doing this for years and up until 2019 no one cared…
But then Rogie King, self-described chaos animal and pretty famous designer advocate at Figma, tweeted a question about cool illustration styles for avatars and I had my handy little list ready to tweet back.
So people are having fun scrolling through it when this random stranger messages me about a project he’s just finished.
This guy I’ve never met was inspired by the list, registered peoplewithcoolavatars.com and created this awesome interactive site that takes it to the next level.
This unintentional collaboration with Will Phillips Jr. was completely out of the blue, but showed where the creative community could still shine on social media.
Twitter will probably never recover this kind of magic, but keep doing the things you love, even if they’re kind of silly.
Thanks for visiting my roadside attraction on the information superhighway.
My name is Nick and I'm a product designer by day and a sticker designer by night. Over the course of my career I've cofounded three hilarious children and cried at every Pixar movie.
