Timeline

2002 – 2006

It was my first real job out of college, but what I learned, even how I name my files, carries through in my work today

At Opacity I was one part of a four-person design studio specializing in real estate marketing and corporate identity. I designed logos, campaigns, ads, packaging, brochures, and customer communications for a variety of mediums, including press, packaging, newspaper, signage, email, and the web. It was a fantastic first step into the industry, and I credit the team at ODG for my skills in everything from proofreading to file preparation and print production (plus winning radio contests).

Fun Highlight

Our team took part in the annual CANstruction Vancouver event, creating award-winning gigantic sculptures out of nonperishable food items, which were donated to charity and raised food insecurity awareness. We built a British Columbia Spirit Bear out of tuna cans, a 10-foot, free-standing, 50th anniversary-celebrating Gumby & Pokey made out of “gum-beans” and “pork-ey”, and a 7200-can monster truck on a mission to crush hunger.

Thanks for visiting my roadside attraction on the information superhighway.

My name is Nick and I'm a product designer by day and a sticker designer by night. Over the course of my career I've cofounded three hilarious children and cried at every Pixar movie.
